More shoulder stability … what does that even mean? For me it’s knowing that my shoulder will perform like I want it to … like I need it to .. like I expect it to.
More shoulder stability starts with knowing what shoulder stability is. It starts when your 4 rotator cuff muscles perform in unison to keep your humeral head centered in the glenoid of your shoulder blade.
But that’s only the first part of having more shoulder stability. The muscles controlling your shoulder blade also have to be strong and mobile. These muscles enable your shoulder blade to move in concert with the humerus.
If you’re …
- throwing a football or baseball
- casting a fishing rod
- swinging a tennis racket or a framing hammer
- pushing a weight overhead
… all these muscles have to work together. Here are a couple of exercises to help.
More Shoulder Stabiliity with the Oscillating Javelin Press
More Shoulder Stability with the Banded Overhead Kettlebell Press
Give these shoulder stability exercises a try and let me know how your shoulders feel.
ROTATER client says …
