How To Regain Shoulder Range of Motion

December 21, 2011

We have great customers who want to share their shoulder rehab stories.  Here’s an email from two-time World Champion powerlifter, Pat Susco, who had extensive shoulder surgery in 2010.

Pat, who is 60, also sent a link to this video of himself doing weighted dips….incredible!  Here’s the video and below it you can read Pat’s Rotater testimonial:

Pat Susco’s Rotater Testimonial

..hey guys sent you an email off your website, not sure if it went thru…..anyway, a video of my shouders working 100% @ 60 yrs. old thanks to the Rotater …..wow, what great news ! ……what I did forget to mention was that the people who train in my “home gym” are also big Rotater fans and in fact I`m still waiting for one of them to return my Rotater dvd…..In short I`ve had 2 left shouder surgeries and rebounded well after the first in `94….however, the second in 2010 was much slower to respond , possibly because I was now 59. It was also a more extensive procedure with repair to a torn rotater cuff, torn labrum and the shaving of my clavicle. After a year of self rehab I was still quite limited on what movements I could do, the weight I could use and my limited ROM.

Then by chance, surfing the net for “new” shoulder rehab ideas I came across the video for the “Rotater” and was amazed by it`s versatility. I had already purchased a “shoulder horn” and loved it , however, it was limited to one movement. I purchased my “Rotater” from “Lifting Large” which is pretty prominent in the powerlifting community. I watched the video and was blown away by how many aspects of the shoulder the Rotater hit. Using it religiously 3x a week (on both shoulders !) in conjunction with my training, I regained full ROM , was pain free and even doing weighted dips !….My biggest concern now (having a powerlifters “more is better” mind set) is the discipline to continue to train smart and cycle my training to allow for “light days” and recuperation from the “heavy days” !

I should mention that along with now being 60, I`m a 2x IPA World Champion (`93 & `95 ) and multi-time masters champion (55-59) with an official squat of 920lbs. and deadlift of 745lbs. both done while in my forties.

Shoulder Rehab Tool Needs a “Love It” Button

May 18, 2011

This is a short testimonial taken from the Rotater Facebook page.  It was posted by Jon Tyre on Dec. 7, 2010.  If you want to stay up to date with the latest shoulder rehab information, then join the Rotater community on Facebook…you’ll be glad you did.

It’s things like The Rotater that make me wish there was a “love it” button. I have had three surgeries on my shoulder and nothing seemed to help. PT had it’s limits – at least my therapist did so I set out in search of something I could do at home. Since The Rotater, although I don’t have it all back (yet) my range of motion has increased significantly! It is worth every penny!

Is Radical Shoulder Replacement Right for You?

April 6, 2011

Who wants to have the end of their upper arm sawed off and then have a deep hole drilled down the center?  No one….unless you’re suffering from the extreme pain of Osteoarthritis.  Osteoarthritis, also known as degenerative joint disease, results in the wearing away of the cartilage of the joint.  When the cartilage is gone, you have bone on bone contact with no lubrication between and PAIN…lots of pain.

Answers to your Shoulder Arthritis Questions

Here’s a video that will answer some of the questions you’re having about shoulder arthritis and what you can do.

Should Your Child be Pitching?

March 24, 2011

Should your child be pitching?  That seems like a “no-brainer”…especially if your son or daughter exhibits a natural tendency to excel.  But after watching the following videos, you might want to re-think the question.  I found the first video on Elite Sports Medicine’s website.

What startled me was the statement that 50% of kids who play overhead sports (softball, baseball, tennis, etc.) have a shoulder or elbow injury every season!!  Not only that, but these injuries impact your child’s ability to throw later in life.

It’s All About Fatigue – Young Arms Need Require REST!

Dr. James Andrews, one of the most highly respected orthopedic surgeons, has also noticed the increase of shoulder / elbow injuries …most notably among Little League baseball pitchers and has been a strong proponent of limiting the number of pitches thrown.  Here’s a video of Dr. Andrews expressing his thoughts on what he calls an increase of shoulder / elbow injuries of “epidemic” proportions:

Take away notes:

  • Pitch counts are important
  • don’t allow your child to play “year-round”
  • it’s all about fatigue
  • have a 2 – 3 month, “no-throwing”, rest period
  • don’t allow your child to play in more than one league at a time
  • 5 fold increase in shoulder / elbow injuries requiring surgery

Shoulder Pain Patients Regain Full Range of Motion

March 16, 2011

We received the following email from Dr. Steven Green of the NOVA Headache and Chronic Pain Center:

“I love The Rotator for its ability to have the patient perform the complex motions necessary to regain full ROM and use of the shoulder joint complex post surgery.  I have used this successfully on myself and many of my patients.  If I were to change but one thing with this valuable tool it would be the material from which it is made.  Regrettably, the flimsy materials make it a difficult sale as patient’s are often reticent to plunk down the 60-80.00 required to make the purchase.  As we can all agree, the science behind the unit, the software instructions, etc all go into the cost and the effectiveness is without dispute.  The problem is in demonstrating the value proposition to a member of the laity who is considering the purchase without the benefit of the esoteric knowledge behind the invention.  Instead, their concern is for the durability and heft of the instrument even though -again, we can all agree – that this has nothing to do with the effectiveness.”

The Rotater is Guaranteed 100% – No Questions Asked

The Rotater Works - it's that simple!

NOTE: The flimsiness that Dr. Green is speaking of is referring to the ability of the Rotater handle to twist. This twist is very important to someone who is rehabbing a sore shoulder. Basically the twisting allows for a buffer in the transference of motion / force and is purposely designed into the Rotater.  It does not affect the durability of the Rotater which is why the Rotater is guaranteed 100% for any kind of breakage!!  ALSO, the Rotater’s strength and durability has been tested by the continued use of many professional athletes and world class powerlifters.  This was my response to Dr. Green:

“Hi Dr. Green,

Thanks for your quick response!!  I’m glad to hear your shoulder (as well as those of your patients) has responded positively to the Rotater.  You are absolutely correct in your description of hesitation some people exhibit when they learn the price of the Rotater.  However, what we’ve found is that after using the Rotater and realizing they can stretch themselves, price often becomes a non-issue.

I’m not sure if you’re aware of it or not, but we guarantee the Rotater – 100% to the user’s satisfaction – no questions asked.  If our client is not happy, we’re not happy and will refund their money.  Basically they can try the Rotater and if they still don’t feel it’s worth the price, they can get all their money back. “

Here are Dr. Green’s final thoughts:

“Thank you for the valuable information.  I was unaware of the fact you provided a no hassle money back guarantee.  I will be careful to explain that the next time a patient could benefit from your device.”
