Shoulder Tool Perfect for Home Based Rehab

February 17, 2012

Last August we attended the Florida Chiropractors conference in Orlando.  Although we’ve been to many physical therapy and athletic training conferences, this was our first time demonstrating the Rotater to the chiropractic industry.  We’d been alerted to their interest when Dr. Jennifer Illes wrote and told us she had presented the Rotater at the sports symposium of the American Chiropractic Association meeting in Peurto Rico and the response was had been great.  Here is a link to her original article.

Florida Chiropractic Show is Successful

The FCA conference was a great success for the Rotater.  Interest in the Rotater was very good and sales were great.  While we were there, one of the attendees asked me if we knew Dr. Enrico Esposito at the United States Sports Academy and that we should contact him about the Rotater.

So we contacted Dr. Esposito and asked him if he would like to put the Rotater to the test.  After checking out our website and videos, he gave me a shipping address and we put his Rotater package on the way.

Letter of Recommendation for The Rotater

Dr. Esposito Recommends the Rotater

After using the Rotater since Sept. 2011, Dr. Esposito contacted me last week and said he was sending us a letter of recommendation on his letterhead.  Click this link to see the actual letter.

In his words:

To Whom It May Concern,

The Rotator is an outstanding tool for both, sport performance training and the rehabilitation of the shoulder. There comes a time in life when the creativity of a few – helps the many. This is what Joint Mechanix, LLC has done. The Rotator will help to maximize shoulder performance for many athletes and patients – providing the intricate balance between the science and the art of conditioning and reconditioning of an athlete/patient that is so imperative for a successful outcome.

The Rotator can help to maximize strength, flexibility and range of motion utilizing the sciences based upon the structure and function of the body. It takes the science of biomechanics and utilizes proper angles and forces to promote the art of correct functional movements around the joint so that ligaments, tendons, and muscles can synergistically apply themselves to a better movement.

The Rotator takes the place of expensive machines – being so portable and user friendly. It is safe – due to the capability of the user to always be in control of the angles and forces that are being applied. All these reasons make The Rotator the perfect tool to increase compliance with all home-based training and rehabilitation programs.

I recommend that every athlete have access to The Rotator. No throwing athlete should be without one.

Yours in Sport,

Dr. Enrico N. Esposito

Scapular Stretch for Shoulder Mobility

January 21, 2012

Most people tend to think of their shoulder in simple terms.  I mean it’s just the joint where your arm bone ( the humerus ) meets your body … right?  Well, yes …. in the most basic sense.  To be honest, your shoulder is really made up of 4 joints:

So, increasing the mobility of any one of these joints will increase the mobility of the entire shoulder region.  In this video, Bucknell University Strength Coach, Jerry Shreck demonstrates how he helps his athletes increase their shoulder mobility by increasing their scapular mobility.  He is working directly on the Scapulothoracic joint in this video:

Joint Mechanix, “..a great company”

Just had to let you know what a great company this is. I ordered the Rotater and it came really quickly. As it turned out my injury was not one that would benefit from using the product….but I must say they were so nice. I contacted them and they told me..”no problem”…wished me luck with my shoulder re hab and promptly refunded my ENTIRE amount immediately. If you have any doubts about giving them a try, have no doubts! If every company on the internet did business this way it would be so refreshing. I cannot say enough good things about them.

Shoulder Mobility – Curing the Hunchback

December 31, 2011

Computer Related Shoulder Pain

The Hunchback and Shoulder Pain

You do it!  You know you do it!  I do it, too …. I’m probably doing it right now … yeah, the “late night, I’m tired as crap, gotta keep working on this article” hunched back.

As we become more engaged online, we are becoming less engaged offline … less aware of our posture.  It doesn’t matter what your addiction is:

  • surfing the web via your desktop computer
  • texting on your phone
  • cruising along with your ipod
  • chilling out on the latest tablet

…it’s all the same…you’ve become a hunchback.  Your shoulders are rolled forward, your head is down and you have some seriously tense and painful shoulders.

How to Avoid Computer Related Shoulder Pain

  1. Take periodic breaks – get up and move … walk around.
  2. Learn to stretch those tight shoulder muscles – there’s got to be a million videos on YouTube demonstrating some of the shoulder stretches you can do almost anywhere  .. even at your desk.
  3. Relax, meditate, breathe deep.

Shoulder Mobility – Take 2 and Call Me in the Morning

There’s nothing hard about this shoulder exercise .. except making yourself get up and do it.  So do 2 things:
  1. Watch this video
  2. Give it a try

So … did you do it?  How do your shoulders feel now?
