Functional Correction – a Manual for Improvement

April 19, 2010

Look around….it seems like everyone is complaining about their physical condition:

  • “my back hurts”
  • “my knee hurts”
  • “I just don’t have the flexibility I used to have”

So what can we do to improve our lives?

We work long hours, we’re tied to our computers, we eat poor diets and we wish we felt better.

The Strength Doctor

Tim Hull - The Strength Doctor

I don’t think there is any ONE answer, but I do know that one of the answers comes from the Strength Doctor, Tim Hull.

Tim is a Licensed Manual Therapist (LMT) and Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) who has worked in the health and fitness industry for over 15 years.  With his unique perspective Tim has created a program called Functional Correction to address many of the problems that you and I face everyday…stuff like:

  • muscle imbalances and how to correct them
  • limited flexibility
  • reduced mobility

Functional Correction does what it says.

Tim takes the time to:

  • explain muscle imbalances and how they affect you
  • show you how to increase your mobility and decrease stiffness
  • educate you for increased athletic performance
  • demonstrate the exercises that will make a difference in your life

Functional Correction

The Cost of Performance

What would you be willing to pay for a program that would help you enjoy the physical condition you deserve?  $99.00?  $119.00?

At those prices, Functional Correction would be a bargain – but Tim is offering his program at the unbelievably low price of $29.95!!  Plus, he’s providing you with a free email consultation AND a video demonstration of the many exercises that will change your life.

Do yourself a favor – visit the website and read what others are saying about Functional Correction.  Here’s my disclaimer:

I was not paid in any way to endorse this product or write this review.  I was given a copy of Functional Correction to evaluate.

The “take-home” message is … Functional Correction works and can help you.

Mike T. Nelson Reviews the Rotater

Mike T. Nelson

Mike T. Nelson

“I get a fair amount of products to review and in general I am not too happy with many of them.  Very few actually.  So when I got the Rotater I was a bit skeptical.

I was surprised to find that it was easy to use (if you read the instructions), construction was good, and the best part was that it allowed athletes/clients to use much better form on many standard rotator exercises.

If you work with clients, you soon find out that what you thought they were doing for exercises, may not look like anything you showed them!  So anything that helps create perfect reps is great. ”

Thoughts on the Rotater

After using the Rotater for several months, Tim posted the video you seen on the right to YouTube and sent me the following email:

“The Rotater is a great piece of equipment for anyone looking to rehab or strengthen their shoulders. It helps to stretch and strengthen the hard to isolate external and internal movements of the rotator cuff. My patients have gotten great benefit from this device.”

Review of John Izzo’s Shatterproof Spine DVD

October 5, 2009

Back injuries are debilitating!  Unlike an injury to an extremity ( ie, arm, leg, ankle, hand, finger, etc ), you can’t work around a back injury.  If you’ve hurt your back, then you know what I mean.

Shatterproof Spine - How to Build an Athletic Low Back

Shatterproof Spine - How to Build an Athletic Low Back

In 1981, I tried out for the basketball team at the junior college I was attending.  On the last day of tryouts, I took a charging foul on a fast break and literally got knocked on my butt.  Later that day at work, my back hurt so badly that I couldn’t perform my job and had to go home.  The next day, a doctor’s examination along with a bunch of x-rays revealed three fractured vertebrae.

Fortunately, my back healed completely and I’ve never suffered any lasting pain or limitations – but not everyone is so lucky.  Therefore, I was very happy to receive John Izzo’s new DVD – “SHATTERPROOF SPINE! How to Build an Athletic Low Back” to review.

John Izzo is:

  • a Certified Personal Trainer ( NASM – the National Academy of Sports Medicine, ACE – American Council on Exercise, NESTA – the National Exercise & Sports Trainer Association )
  • a Performance Enhancement Specialist – NASM
  • a Nutrition Consultant – American Fitness Professionals & Associates (AFPA)

This DVD was filmed in a “live” workshop setting.  You feel like you’re part of the seminar with John speaking directly to you.

John works with a number of golfers and this dvd uses them to illustrate many of his points.  Considering the the stresses and forces exerted on the spine during a typical golf swing, this makes perfect sense.

Some topics covered are:

  • Why does your back hurt?  Seems like a simple question, but the answers my surprise you
  • What are the functions of the Spine?
  • What are some of the stresses of the Spine?
  • Muscles that can contribute to lower back pain
  • Some things to avoid – did you know you could stretch AT THE WRONG TIME?
  • “Hands-on” practical – John takes the time to illustrate exercises you can do to improve your lower back strength and explains how and why they work

Summary

Before watching “Shaterproof Spine”, I thought I had a good understanding of the spine -  I WAS WRONG!  Thanks to John, I’m more informed and can make better decisions about the health of my lower back.

John uses lots of graphics to illustrate his points.  The graphic that really stood out for me was how weight gain over time affects your posture and limits the function of your spine.  Nothing beats seeing this progression to make you want to get yourself into better shape.

Shatterproof Spine covers a tremendous amount of material in one hour and 30 minutes.  At a cost of $25.00 it’s a “NO-BRAINER” – do your back a favor and get the DVD.  Learn how to improve your low back strength and live your life without limitations.

Premier Track Coach Reviews Shoulder Rehab Device

September 22, 2009

Mike Young

Mike Young

Mike Young is founder and owner of ELITETRACK.COM, co-owner of Human Performance Consulting and coach of the HPC Elite Track Team.  That alone gives him a ton of credibility, but he also:

  • holds a PhD in Biomechanics
  • has coached at LSU and Ohio University before serving as the sprints and decathlon coach at Army
  • served as an instructor or adjunct professor at Ohio University, LSU, and the University of North Carolina
  • has lectured for the Chinese Track and Field Association and USA Speed Skating
  • participated in 3 Olympics – as an athlete (Lake Placid), as a sport scientist (Colorado Springs and Chula Vista), and as a coach (Colorado Springs)

Several months ago, Mike agreed to evaluate the Rotater.  Here are some of the excerpts from the review he posted on his blog – The Rotater and Shoulder Injuries.

…Unlike most of the shoulder stretching and strengthening variations for internal and external rotation that are used in shoulder rehab / prehab, the ones that the Rotater places the athlete in are much less awkward on the shoulder joint because it helps to stabilize the elbow in the appropriate position, limits movement to the shoulder joint while still permitting enough play to at the elbow joint to ensure the stretching and strengthening isn’t turned in to something robotic..

…I think it’s one of the few products I think could be valuable for increasing the performance and decreasing the likelihood of injury in athletes that need to do high velocity, ballistic overhead movements…

Here’s the complete Rotater review and comments.

New & Improved Website, Rotater Review and Questions

August 31, 2009

It’s been a wild ride, but we’ve finally completed the transition from our static website to a more interactive content managed system.  We made the switch for a number of reasons:

ask questions or post comments - we want to hear from you - photo used courtesy of Samuel Mann - please click on the image to see more

photo used courtesy of Samuel Mann - please click on the image to see more of this artist's work

  • we wanted a website that was more interactive – that would allow our visitors to post questions or responses to our blog posts ( new feature ) and be able to find answers quickly
  • we wanted to be able to update our website in a matter of minutes vs. calling our webguy, telling him what we wanted, etc. – simply saves time and we get it like we want it
  • to make you aware of what’s happening with the Rotater – new reviews, seminars we’ll be attending, new distributors – you get the idea.

So, this is our first official post.  The other posts you see here have been moved from our old website, but be sure to read them.  Most of them are testimonials from satisfied clients.

Speaking of testimonials – stay tuned, we’ve got lots of them that we’ve been waiting to post until we had the new website up and running.
