7 Websites for Great Shoulder Information
September 27, 2011
If you’re looking for shoulder information where do you go? Sure you can do a Google search for the particular term you’re looking for, but is that search result listing going to give you the best information? Here are some websites that I repeatedly visit for outstanding shoulder information.
Eric Cressey’s Blog
Eric Cressey is the president of Cressey Performance, a training facility in Boston that works with athletes of ALL levels…youth to professional. Eric’s expertise is well respected and has led to him having numerous articles published in Men’s Health, Men’s Fitness, ESPN, T-Muscle, The Boston Globe, The Boston Herald, Baseball America, The Worcester Telegram, Perform Better, Oxygen, Experience Life, Triathlete Magazine, Collegiate Baseball, Active.com, The Metrowest Daily News, Parents and Kids, and EliteFTS.
I subscribe to Eric’s RSS feed and check his new articles as soon as they appear. Do yourself a favor and bookmark his blog. Although he doesn’t write exclusively about the shoulder, he is widely recognized as one of the top shoulder gurus for his understanding of the shoulder joint, it’s function and rehabilitation.
Here’s a great example of Eric’s writing on the shoulder – Shoulder Hurts? Start Here
Mike Reinold’s Blog
Mike Reinold has a lot of letters behind his name – PT, DPT, SCS, ATC, CSCS – which means he’s invested a lot of time and money in his education. I had the opportunity to meet Mike and hear him speak in Birmingham, Alabama a couple of years ago at the annual ASMI conference. Mike’s passion for shoulder health and rehab was evident during his lectures. Maybe that’s one of the reasons he’s the Head Athletic Trainer and Assistant Director of Medical Services of the Boston Red Sox.
Mike’s website is an absolute treasure box of rehab information … especially shoulder rehab information!!
Here’s one of my favorites from Mike – The Shoulder W Exercise
Sports Medicine Research
Sports Medicine Research covers a wide variety of topics … not just shoulders. But there is a lot of shoulder information presented and it’s based on clinical research. Do yourself a favor and stop by to see what the current science says.
Hint: Find the search box, about half way down the page, and type in “shoulder” – leave out the apostrophes
The Sports Physiotherapist
The Sports Physiotherapist is another one of the websites that I’m constantly checking for updates. Science based from a real-world perspective.
They cover everything you can imagine … but here’s what a search of “shoulder” turned up.
Shoulderdoc
Shoulderdoc is a huge website filled with everything shoulder related … from arthroscopic surgery to Yeargasons test. Check out their sitemap to get an idea of the information at your fingertips.
Shoulder Rehab and Performance
Okay, time for a disclaimer: Shoulder Rehab and Performance is our “sister” blog. We started it in 2007 when we realized there really weren’t many websites devoted to shoulder rehab and shoulder performance. It’s basically a compilation of news, research, videos and our shoulder injury experiences.
The Rotater Facebook Page
Another disclaimer: This is our Facebook Page. We try to post several links daily to shoulder articles and videos you’ll find helpful as you rehab your shoulder. We have over 900 fans and are growing fast. Stop by and see why.
What Do You Suggest?
Do you have a favorite website you visit for shoulder rehab and performance information? Then, leave us a comment and share it.

Shoulder Recovery with a “FREE” Rotater
July 11, 2011
Everyone needs a friend like StrongMan Bob. Bob bought a Rotater from us a couple of years ago and has been spreading Rotater love all over the place. He even wrote this article where he separates the hype from “real-life” results – (P)Rehab Gadgets: The Good, The Not So Good.
Anyway, to get on with the story…several months ago, Bob won a FREE Rotater on our Facebook Page. (YES!!! We give away FREE Rotaters …and the best way to win one is to Join Our Facebook Page). After winning Bob sent me a message. Basically he wanted to know if we’d send his Rotater to a friend who was having shoulder issues. We said “sure”.
Shoulder Abuse & Recovery
We sent that Rotater to Sara Fleming, a fitness trainer and USA Weightlifting coach. To make a long story shorter, Sara added the Rotater to her shoulder rehab / prehab program and wrote this article outlining her journey – Shoulder Abuse and Recovery. From the article:
…One of my friends was kind enough to send me another piece of equipment called “The Rotator” which is useful for both strengthening and stretching the internal and external rotators. I found this particularly useful for stretching and use it both before and after workouts…
Did Sara’s shoulder recover? Read the blog and find out for yourself.
