I had the pleasure of meeting H. Robert Perez earlier this month at the American College of Sports Medicine’s annual conference. He happened by our booth as we were demonstrating the Rotater to several conference attendees. I asked Dr. Perez if he’d like to try the Rotater, but he said that he already had one and “loved” it.

Dr. Perez went on the explain that he played Men’s Senior League Baseball and felt that the Rotater would be beneficial to many of the players.

“…Part of a Comprehensive Shoulder Stretching Program”

“As a 20+ year player in The Mens Senior Baseball League and someone with a background in Sports Medicine I can attest to the benefit of using the Rotater in a comprehensive shoulder stretching program.

I use the Rotater after a general warmup which include calistenics and running 1/2 hour before game time. I then follow the recommended stretches outlined in the instructions and finish with general throwing and long toss.

The Rotater has increased my Range of Motion at the shoulder and reduced strain. Our pitchers have tried it and they like the specific stretch it provides at the shoulder girdle. Thanks for sharing the Rotater with our over 40 baseball players”

“To: The Rotator Guy

You sure should be proud of your “Rotater” invention. Ever since the PGA Show when you introduced me to the “Rotater”, I have been using it daily. The results for me have been outstanding.

Previously I was very restricted in my shoulder flexibility and add a touch of bursitis to the equation and you get a very short backswing. After my “Rotater” program started, I experienced significant improvement in my shoulder movement and now I can actually get a full shoulder turn (without pain).

Providing great information about golf and the golf industry

Golf Today magazine has been keeping the golfer informed for twenty one years. Scott and I had the pleasure to meet Bob Koczor the publisher/owner or Golf Today magazine during the fall PGA expo held in Las Vegas this past September.

We were riding the elevator to our twelfth floor room, when the gentleman in the elevator with us introduced himself (as Bob Koczor, the owner of Golf Today magazine) and asked about the shoulder device that we were caring. He was very interested in hearing all about the Rotater and promised to come by our booth the following day to try the Rotater for himself.

Bob came by our booth the following day and not only tried the Rotater, but took one with him for further testing and evaluation.

Orlando PGA Expo is huge!

Due to the strong reception that the Rotater received from the golf professionals who attended the Vegas show, we decided that we would take the “big leap” and go to Orlando for the “big” PGA expo. Big is not really the correct word. This event is huge beyond our imagining.

When the doors opened, Bob Koczor was the first person to come by our booth. He had seen Scott in the entrance area and made it a point to come by and speak with us about the Rotater. He also told us that he would be publishing an article about the Rotater.

The Rotater is noted in Golf Today Magazine

(this photo demonstrates how to use the Rotater to stretch external rotation)

If you haven’t seen Golf Today Magazine, then you have missed an online resource that offers in depth information at a price you can afford – free! In addition to that, there are a number of blogs associated with the web site that keep you up-to-date with what’s going on in the golf world – today.

What I really like is the way that they present their digital version of the Golf Today Magazine. Yes, that’s right. You can read the magazine online. And it’s in a real page flipping style – just like hard copy.

Some excerpts from Golf Today magazine about the Rotater

The following excerpts are taken from the article that appeared in the February edition of Golf Today magazine. This link will take you to the page 55 where you can read the entire article (you may have to use the zoom function).

“…I tried the sample they provided and, at first felt muscles and ligaments and whatever keeps me glued together that I had not felt since my 3 – hour Thai Massage about five years ago.”

“The Rotater provides Internal and External Rotation for one’s arms and shoulders which, in turn, results in stretching exercises that are key to good golf.”

“The Rotater allows you to get your body fluid enough to do those things and the results are outstanding.”

Visit our web-site to see if the Rotater can help you.

I received the following email from Kevin Rausch, a physical therapist with a Masters degree (MPT) and also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS).

It has been a few months since I met the Rotater gang at the APTA conference in Denver, CO. I was quite intrigued with their product, and purchased one for use in my clinic. Since then, the Rotater has been used daily and I am in need of a new one or three.

The Rotater itself has proved invaluable to my patients shoulders and their subsequent recovery. It has been used for a variety of overuse, sports, orthopedic, and post-surgical conditions to date, and on a large group of patients as well. Everyone from grandma with adhesive capsulitis to the major league baseball pitcher has reaped its benefits, and I look forward to many more.

In fact, I am currently planning a youth baseball camp for the little leagues in my area. I plan on performing mechanical examinations and coaching; rotator cuff, scapular, and core strengthening; and shoulder stretching (with the Rotater of course). Ill keep you guys updated with the progress on the camp.

In summary, great job guys! I truly appreciate your ingenuity in creating the Rotater. It has been a great addition to my clinic. Keep up the good work.

Sincerely,

Scott and I spent most of last week in Orlando at the PGA merchandise expo. We were demonstrating the Rotater, taking orders, talking with potential distributors and answering questions.

The Golf Industry was not the initial market for the Rotater

The Rotater was initially developed to aid post-surgical patients as a means of supplementing their physical therapy. Scott had used his prototype to accelerate his rehab process, so we naturally assumed that physical therapists would be our strongest market.

And we have been right to a strong degree. We have received a number of great testimonials from physical therapists who have tested the Rotater and are using it with their patients:

Shoulder Rehab expert recommends the Rotater!

Another Physical Therapist endorses the Rotater

Physical Therapist uses the Rotater with his Patients

Athletes have discovered the Rotater

In Daytona, at the Florida Physical Therapy Association’s annual conference, we met Tamara Copes. Tamara is a former collegiate athletic trainer who immediately recognized the benefits that the Rotater offers to both athletes and athletic trainers. This led us to attend the fall PGA expo in Las Vegas, where the Rotater was introduced to the golf community.

Golfers embrace the Rotater

Watch this video and discover how the Rotater has impacted these golf professionals.

But one long drive consultant who has experienced the benefits of using the Rotater, sent us the following email:

Scott: (Scott Kay, inventor of the Rotater)

I’ve been using the Rotater every second day and use it while warming up before a round.

I’ve been in AZ for the past month and had an interesting experience. It was a long par 4, 485 yds. I hit driver - lob wedge. Usually I would have driver - 5 or 6 iron.

So the Range of motion increase and the flexibility was noticeable to me. I’ve also had less soreness in the shoulder where my old football shoulder separation was.

It seems that the Rotater is helping breakdown the scar tissue that gave the shoulder some of its stiffness and pain.

Bob Orr, Long Drive Consultant

How can the Rotater help you?

The Rotater can:

increase your shoulder flexibility

provide you with greater range of motion which results in a greater turn

give you the ability to self-stretch

put you in control of the degree and intensity of the stretch

go anywhere, it is portable many golfers leave it in the trunk of their car and use it just prior to entering the clubhouse

485 yards with a driver and a lob wedge!

Now thats a long way to hit the golf ball. But he is a big guy, a long drive consultantand he uses the Rotater!

Do you strike the ball with power and authority? Give the Rotater a try - feel the difference. Develop a smooth fluid turn and get rid of the short, choppy swing that’s limiting your potential.

This past August, we (the Rotater guys) went to the American Physical Therapy Associations annual convention in Denver. This was the first time that we had publicly exposed the Rotater to the experts who use physical therapy devices as a part of their vocation.

The Rotater was a big hit

Scott and I stayed extremely busy demonstrating the Rotater and allowing physical therapists, PT students, teaching professors, athletic trainers, orthopedic surgeons and others to try the Rotater for themselves. The Rotater was well received, which resulted in numerous sales and an even greater number of contacts.

A True Expert Evaluates the Rotater

Among the people that stopped by our booth was Julie Barnett. Julie has a doctorate degree in Physical Therapy, is the Director of Physical Therapy for Annette M. Zaharoff MD and is a member of the Adjunct Faculty of the University of Texas Health Science Center, Physical Therapy Department.

In late August, we shipped a Rotater to Julie for her professional evaluation in clinical use with real patients. I received the following email from her a couple of days ago.

The Observations of a Shoulder Rehabilitation Expert

Chris,
Thanks for following up with our clinic. We are off to a fast pace already for ‘08 which is great. Here is more feedback on our experience with The Rotator:

The best feature I like is the isolated external rotation passive stretch for our adhesive capsulitis patients. The movements are slow, controlled and specific unlike other alternatives.

I did look on line to see the padding which would be helpful to use. The tubing I do not feel that we need.

One of our patients who had used the Dynasplint passive mobilization system through another facility liked The Rotator better. He also felt the positioning and amount of stretch was more controlled with The Rotator.

My recommendation is that outpatient orthopedic clinics should have the Rotator as an everyday tool for restricted shoulders just as they would have a set of pulleys and arm bike. I believe it will remain as a main stay tool for shoulder rehabilitation in our profession.

The other uses are widespread throughout other fields of PT such as post mascectomy or other neurological conditions. I feel most competent to address the outpatient orthopedic arena. I plan to introduce the Rotator to our physical therapy students in the University of Texas Health Science Center Allied Health program in San Antonio as well.

Thank you for the opportunity to participate in the feedback for development of your practical tool. Feel free to use these comments in your materials and send a copy to me afterwards, if possible.

Julie Barnett PT, DPT, MTC
Director of Physical Therapy for
Annette M. Zaharoff MD
San Antonio, Texas

ROTATER GUYS GO TO VEGAS

In September, Scott and I went to the PGA expo in Las Vegas. The PGA expo is an event that brings professionals from the golf world (course owners/managers, teaching professionals, golf shop owners, sponsored professionals, golf publication editors/owners/writers, etc.) in contact with vendors and suppliers of golf-related products and services. These events are not open to the public.

LOT OF INTERESTING PEOPLE

Scott and I have quite a bit of fun at trade shows. We are both people people, so it is very easy for us to meet and interact with others while demonstrating the Rotater. For us, a PGA show had been the last venue that we thought would use or benefit from the Rotater. Boy, were we wrong!

We met a number of interesting people there:

a former amateur winner of the U.S. Open he uses the Rotater daily

a long drive champion another avid user (look for a testimonial soon)

magazine owners/writers/editors we have done an interview for one publication set to be released in the spring

a television show host who has contacted us about appearing on his show this spring

PGA teaching professionals

SENIOR PROFESSIONAL GIVES TESTIMONIAL

One of the golfing professionals who tried the Rotater and immediately recognized its benefits was Dusty OTyrrell. He has contacted us a number of times and has told us that he has developed some golf-specific exercises with the Rotater. The following is an email that we received from Dusty yesterday.

Hey Rotater Guys,

Just a quick note to tell you about how this thing has worked out for me. As I told you a while back, my right shoulder rotator cuff and shoulder joint were injured in a fall from a chair that had broken. After checking into the surgery aspect I found out that doing surgery was completely out of the question.

So, its into physical therapy and other exercise stuff to get this thing to heal. My Doc had told me that with proper therapies, I would likely heal well in a three to four year period. Why so long you did not ask? Because as a professional golfer, the use of this shoulder is paramount to my making a living. I must play and practice every day. Its my JOB! And it aint that glorious either. Its a JOB. Hot, sweaty and physically draining. Its supposed to be mentally draining as well but Im not very mental. And to think, I gave up an office job for this!

Well anyway, I met you guys and the Rotater and this little beauty has become my three to four times a day shoulder exercise device. My range of motion has improved immensely and I use it on both shoulders, even though only the right one was injured. My Doc loves this thing because it causes the shoulder to move correctly in the directions necessary for the correct exercises. I am now back to playing (and note: the fellows who had surgery NO LONGER PLAY and are on restricted cortisone use!) and my strength and stuff is just as it should be.

As Ive told you, I tell everyone wholl listen about itthe Rotater, and let them use minebut not keep it! Dont know how many have contacted you but I tell them use my name and maybe youll give them a special deal! What the heckits worth a try aint it?

So there you go. Im a great fan of the thing and will remain so.

Best to both of you,

As a PGA Professional, I have had many golfers come to me over the years looking to improve their games. Most come to me for a lesson as what they see as a last resort after many failed attempts to improve using the latest swing aid or magic club.

With a background and degree in Kinesiology, I have studied the motions of many different athletes in many different sports. Through my experiences I believe that many of these golfers that come to see me would see improvements in their games if they would simply improve their overall strength and fitness levels first, more specifically flexibility and range of motion, before concentrating solely on technique.

I feel limitations in the fitness areas are more directly responsible for plateaus and declines in ability for many golfers than are sudden losses of ability or improper technique. Fitness should play a more significant role in many players game improvement plans.

It was at the 2007 PGA Merchandise show in Las Vegas that I first picked up the Rotater and I have now been using it for 2 months and I am happy to say that I have experienced the benefits and improvements that I had hoped for.

By using the Rotater for only a few minutes a day, stretching my shoulder both internally and externally, I have been able to see a measurable difference in the range of motion in my shoulder. This has transferred over to a wider, more efficient and more powerful turn in my golf swing.

Having greater flexibility has allowed me to make a better turn with my shoulders without compensations, which has translated into creating greater consistency in my ball striking.

I always keep my eyes open for products that can truly help golfers in areas where I have seen some glaring deficiencies. Almost every golfer can benefit from increased range of motion in the shoulder joint to help them create wider, more powerful and more consistent swings, and the Rotater is the easiest and most effective product I have seen to achieve this task.

Hi, Chris and Scott,

You introduced me to your Rotater at the FPTA Annual Meeting in Daytona a few weeks ago. I have been using it with several patients over the past two weeks and found it to be a wonderful adjunct to their shoulder stabilization programs. It is like having an extra pair of hands: while the patient slowly and deliberately works his shoulder into the targeted range with the Rotater, I am able to use both of my hands to control the scapula so that we develop the correct scapulo-humeral ratio - eliminating elevating the shoulder and other undesirable substitution patterns.

Patients relax while they are stretching - the only safe, effective way to stretch and feel in control of their stretching, gaining as much as a 50% increase to functional range of motion in just two weeks - therapist, patients and families are pleased with the results - the orthopedists will be also when check-up time comes. Thank you for your great tool!
