Aging doesn’t have to be your excuse

Here’s a great story about Dawn Kirklen who began playing golf at the age of 50. Now, at 89, she still plays twice a week. (NOTE: When I first published this blog article, this story about Dawn Kirklen was freely available…not anymore. The website that posted it is now a “Pay-Per-View” or subscription website).

Shoulder surgery doesn’t stop this golfer

Dawn has had four surgeries since 2000:

two hip replacements

back surgery

shoulder surgery

Also, she is scheducled to have cataract surgery in January and hopes to play in a tournament in March.

What’s your excuse?

Daily exercise is one of the keys for living a long, fulfilled and productive life. We all know it, but seldom do anything about it.

As the new year starts, why not make it a priority to enjoy your senior years by following an exercise program. As Dawn Kirklen has proved, its never too late to start.

Shoulder Surgery? Shoulder Rehab is a Necessity

If you’ve had any kind of shoulder surgery, then you know how important shoulder rehabilitation is. But what happens after your rehab prescription runs out? Or, you don’t have insurance to pay for your shoulder rehab?

Good questions. Maybe you should check out the Rotater .. shoulder rehab / prehab tool designed to duplicate many of the stretches your physical therapist will perform during your rehab.

Most of us think of physical therapy as a means of regaining the use of one or more of our limbs following an accident, surgery or a stroke.

Am I going to lose my thumb?

I can remember wondering if I was going to lose my thumb after my tablesaw accident. And then the surgeon was very clear that he had his doubts about whether he could repair the damage. I was scared – fortunately, I have full use of my thumb today. It’s shaped a little different and has no feeling, but it works just fine.

My physical therapists were great. They took the time to explain every move, procedure and exercise. They were constantly reminding me to hold back and wait for the repaired tendons and skin to heal.

Inspiring Physical Therapy

Usually, physical therapy means recovering the full use and mobility of our injured body part so that we can return to work or function better at home. But sometimes physical therapy means more…

Sometimes physical therapy does more than help a person recover – it gives them something that they’ve never had before:

the freedom of mobility

the opportunity to play like and with other children

self-confidence and a sense of belonging

Euro-Peds: creative physical therapy

The following video demonstrates how great an impact Euro-Peds is having on children with cerebral palsy and other neuromuscular disorders.

If you want to succeed in reaching your fitness or rehab goal, then never give up!

Quitting is easy and can become habit-forming. Watch this short video I discovered on rosstraining.com blog. Push yourself a little farther and you’ll gain an entirely different perspective, but don’t quit.
